Heads & Tales have a grant from the BCC Single Project Fund to make some audio stories which will be downloadable on mp3 and will be located in specific places in Bristol. We are looking for a writer of ANY diverse heritage based in Bristol to contribute one of these stories.
The story should be original, suitable for audio, of a minimum length of 1200 words, and in English. Its content and context should be about the location in which the story will be experienced. There is a fee for this work which will include recording the story for broadcast and potentially performing it live at a launch event. The work will be read for recording by the author.
The story should be suitable either to listen to in a specific location or while walking through it.
Potential locations include Stokes Croft/St Pauls, Temple Meads/The Dings, Arnos Vale Cemetery, Clifton Suspension Bridge, Docks/Harbourside, Redcliffe/Bedminster, and/or Easton/Greenbank. However we are open to suggestions for alternative locations, which need not be picturesque or 'touristy' but do need to have something of interest that would encourage people to visit. We are at this stage looking for proposals rather than finished product. Please send not more than one side of A4 (in .doc, .rtf, or .odt format) to headsandtales@yahoo.co.uk, outlining what location you would like to use, the idea for a story that you would like to create, and a bit of information about yourself. For more information please call Ursula Wills-Jones on

0793 2784100.
The deadline for proposals is Monday 18th January.
