Independent Foreign Fiction Prize 2010

A prize awarded to the best contemporary work of literary fiction in translation published in the UK between 1st January and 31st December 2009.
A shortlist will be announced in March 2010 and the £10,000 prize, split equally between author and translator, will be presented in May 2010.
The author must be living at the time the translation is published in the United Kingdom.
Submissions are judged by a panel of five experts, yet to be confirmed.

Whilst books may be submitted until 30 September 2009, we would very much appreciate it if you could send in your books as soon as they are available; this would really help the judges with their reading.

Please note the earlier closing date for this year’s award. We will accept unbound or bound proofs at the time of submission if necessary, with the understanding that finished copies will be sent as soon as available.
Please enclose a press release or AI sheet for each title submitted.

This prize underlines Arts Council England’s commitment to raising the profile of literature in translation and the work of literary translators.

Please send the completed application form (available from the website) together with 8 copies of any eligible books and press release or advanced information sheet, to:
