WB Yeats, The Song of Wandering Aengus
Love poetry? Wild about the landscape? Nuts about nature? In this relaxed and enjoyable summer school you will have a chance to find inspiration in the beautiful woodland of Rocks East, with its ornamental pond, grotto, sculpture trail and groves, where we will compose and craft poetry. Each 3 hour session will comprise of varied writing activities, feedback on poetry in progress and a short walk in the immediate vicinity to engage the senses and fire the imagination – to a local beauty spot where we will enjoy a daily poetry picnic, reciting our words and those of our favourite bards (weather permitting). You’ll need to bring pen, paper, a notebook, packed lunch and suitable clothing and footwear for a brief walk through woodlands with some muddy/sloping paths.
Led by Kevan Manwaring MA Teaching and Practice of Creative Writing, Open University tutor and author of The Bardic Handbook, Lost Islands, The Long Woman and editor of Writing the Land: an anthology of natural words. His poems have appeared in several anthologies.
