EXCLUSIVE special offer for literature audiences!

A one-off spectacular double bill of storytelling for adults is coming to the Tobacco Factory in May, featuring some of the UK’s finest storytellers.   Two shows, based on ancient legends are told through vivid, dynamic storytelling and delicious contemporary music.

Hunting the Giant's Daughter on Thurs 28 May (8pm) is an energetic and inspiring telling of the oldest Arthurian legend about a young man who falls in love with a woman nobody knows how to find, drawing King Arthur and his knights into a magical quest to find and then win her from one of the most grizzly giants in the land. Storyteller Michael Harvey, singer Lynne Denman and composer/musician Stacey Blythe bring this amazing tale to life through intoxicating storytelling, passionate singing and improvised music on harp, accordion and piano.  £12 (£8 conc.)

The Middle Yard on Fri 29 May (8pm) draws from the riches of Irish mythology. A young man, prophesied to be the only person who can defeat the people’s enemy is diverted from battle by a deeply personal vendetta.  Can he avenge his father’s murder and still do what is right for his people?  The story sweeps across land and sea, from tense confrontations in the court of the Irish king, to an enchanted quest which travels to the four corners of this world and the edges of the next.   Filled with drama, passion, twists and tragedy, the story leads to a final confrontation on the Hill of Miochaoin. Nick Hennessey and Simon Heywood weave the story through original music and songs, played on harp and guitar.  £12 (£8 conc.)
